Waders are protective outer clothing to keep you dry when standing in or wading through water. They are usually made of neoprene, nylon, or a material resembling Gore-Tex. Waders can also be insulated for warmth.
There are three types of waders:
1. Chest Waders: Used for surfcasting (ocean fishing, high waves). They keep gravel and sand out of your boots and clothes.
2. Hip Waders: These serve the same purpose as chest-highs, but are used for fishing in more shallow, low-running water, such as rivers and streams.
3. Stocking-foot Waders: These also go up to your chest, but require additional wading boots or shoes.
Wading shoes or boots are sometimes preferred
as they provide added support and traction in the water.
