Rods
There are different rods
for different types of fishing. Rods can have
a little or a lot of bend to them. Fast rods only bend at the
tip, and are used for distance or bottom fishing. They are not ideal
for large fish as too much pressure on the line will snap the tip of
the rod. Slow rods bend throughout the length of the rod. These
are better for struggling with larger fish.
Bait-casting fishing rods are
approximately 6 feet long, and are used for more precision. They are
light enough to use for fast fish (bass, etc.), but are also strong
enough for heavier fish. Spinning fishing rods
are usually made from graphite. They come in three weights:
1. Ultralight: Used for lighter weight fish
2. Medium spinning rod: Used for heavier fish
3. 9-foot spinning rod: Used for ocean fishing.
